Subject: F000957134 - Information and Terms for Travel Facilitation by IOM
Dear Sponsor,
Thank you for contacting the International Organization for Migration (IOM) – UN Migration Agency in Ottawa regarding the travel arrangements for your family. Before opening a file for your family, please carefully review the below information and terms for travel facilitation by IOM.
When communicating with IOM Ottawa, you are required to provide complete and accurate information. It is your responsibility to ensure that you fully understand all correspondence sent to you. IOM will not undertake travel facilitation if we do not receive complete and accurate information. Communication with IOM Ottawa should be strictly by email unless otherwise indicated by IOM Ottawa. IOM Ottawa is not available by telephone.
Issuance of Travel Documents & Exit Permits
IOM is not involved in the issuance of travel documents. Travel documents are issued at the sole discretion of the Canadian Embassy or High Commission processing your family’s application. IOM cannot accelerate the issuance of travel documents or the exit permit process by local authorities. Please note that this may lead to delays which we have no control over.
Cost of Travel
IOM has agreements with several airlines; however, fares may not always be cheaper than those available online as we need to use fares with flexible conditions for travel facilitation. IOM will also charge an assistance fee, ranging between $130 to $150 US dollars per traveller. The exact assistance fee will vary based on your family’s country of departure.
Payment of Travel
IOM will request payment for travel only once travel documents have been received from the Canadian Embassy or High Commission. If you intend on making payment from Canada, IOM Ottawa will provide you with a cost estimate and payment instructions. Please note, payments made from Canada will be processed via IOM Washington in US dollars; additionally, only credit card, visa debit are accepted at this time. If your family wishes to make payment locally, the local IOM office will provide them with details on how to proceed. Local payment is not available in all countries at this time.
Travel to Canada
Travellers are required to follow all rules and procedures locally, in transit, and in Canada, as deemed required by the relevant authorities.
Your family will receive assistance on departure, and while in transit, where possible. IOM is not present at any airport in Canada. As such, your family will not receive any assistance in Canada.
Private Travel Arrangements
IOM cannot use air tickets purchased privately, nor can IOM hand over travel documents directly to your family. If you wish to arrange your family’s travel privately, IOM will return your family’s travel documents to the Canadian Embassy or High Commission and you will need to communicate with them on how to proceed with retrieving the travel documents.
After you have read and understood the above terms and conditions, please reply to this email indicating whether you would like to proceed with IOM assistance.
Thank you and kind regards,
IOM Ottawa
